Advertising (30.1.1)

What is TV advertising and advertising?

TV advertising is a form of promotion that you would probably see on TV between program breaks for a certain product persuading you to buy it. TV adverts appear on so many different channels because there are so many of them promoting different things.

Media researchers say that the amount of advertisement that the americans take in is more than 3000 each day because it can be seen everywhere in their life. Ive even noticed its the same with London. As soon as we wake up we are forced to see advertisement whether we acknowledge it or not it is till there.

Adverts are displayed everywhere and not just on TV. They are everywhere in the streets on billboards, on the side of busses and inside of train stations. No matter where you are you are in the city you are bound to see at least more than three advertisements.

Advertisements are so powerful that even countries that don't speak english understand what coca cola means.

TV adverts have many similarities as they all share the same purpose which is to promote and sell. Although most adverts are creative and have there own originality to them, some adverts tend to use a lot of repetition and some adverts use catchy songs to get the viewers attention but the majority of adverts nowadays all use some form of character for the viewers to relate too.

When making an advert, researching other adverts and other ways to connect with the audience is an important phase. To make an advert a success you have to study what makes other adverts successful and experiment with certain elements like colour use and other technique to make your advert more improved than the other successful adverts.

Advertising doesn't always work especially when what your offering isn't presented well enough. The product that is being promoted in an advert must make the viewer think its something he or she needs even if they don't. An advertiser called Leo Burnett once shared to people that creativity and uses of character can change human behavior which can be very useful when you are trying to get people to buy your product. The frosties breakfast cereal has Tony the tiger in their adverts who has nothing to do with cereal but it works because the viewers can relate to the tiger as he is a creative character supporting the breakfast cereal.

Advertisements sometimes use a lot of money just to make their adverts interesting so that the viewers don't change the channel and it often works even with me. Advertisers want their adverts to be so entertaining and so gripping that they even sometimes hire famous celebrities to help promote their product. They will use lots of special effects and lots of drama in the space of 2 minutes if not less just to get you to buy their product.

Advertisers are always trying to find new ways of advertising their products. They will do anything just to promote their product. Some advertisers have even tried paying their viewers just to check out the adverts online. The future of advertising is infinite.

My Evaluation for my profile video

Recently I have been working on a video about my self. In the video I briefly explained a little about myself, background and hobbies. When I completed it I upload it to my blog so I could recieve feed back. I made the video so that people could learn a little bit about me and also to show off my media creativity and also to experiment with the 5 sot rule I previously learnt.

Making the video wasnt as long as I thought it would be. I originally had time limits set for me to have cirtian things done from the log book but I thought it would be a good idea to try and beat those times by giving my self my own time limit with in the original ones in order to make sure I had enough time to edit my video. One of the first thing I done was researched other bio videos so I had a rough idea of what I wanted mine to look like. Then I made a rough script I was going to develop on. As I developed my script I recorded parts of my video at the same time so that I knew what things I could improve on in the script and what would look better.

A few things whent well and some didnt. One thing that definitly went well was the my video timing. I got everything I wanted to recored quicker than I thought I would and edited it quicker than I expected to as well. I also recieved a lot of good feed back but there was one thing that was mentioned that I could have improved on and that was my voice in the video was not loud enough. I also think that I could have spoken more clear in the video as well as raised my voice levels. Over all, people enjoyed my video and gave me really positive feed back so I am happy with my video.

If I was to re do my video I would definitely speak louder and more cleare and maybe add more information and different locations other than just recording around college. I also would have lots more different shots incourperated in my video and probably more titles for the other subjects I would probably go on to talk about. I would also enclude footage of me skatboarding and doing all the other stuff I do as cut away sequences befor talking about a new subject in the video.

Legal and Ethnical

What does copy right mean?

Copyright is a legal concept, made by governments, giving the creator of an original work of ownership and exclusive rights to control its distribution for a certain time period, after which the work enters the public.

Here are three examples of copy righted products:

Here are two web sites where you can find copy right free music:

Here is a website where you can find free or low fee photographs:

What is a location release form and why is it needed for filming?
A location release for is something you need to fill out before going to record in certain places. Usually you can just go out and record in most places but if you want to record something on someones property like trafalgar square or private property you'll often find you will have to pay a fee and fill out a location release form.

What is a contributor release form and why is it required?
A contributor release form is basically a for that an actor or actress would have to fill out before taking part in any shooting to say that he or she is agreeing that the copyright and all other rights in respect of he or she's performance is assigned to what ever company they are working with. The form requires these details:
TITLE OF FILM:
PRODUCTION COMPANY:
NAME OF ARTISTE:
ADDRESS:
DATE OF FILMING:

And then they will have to read what they are agreeing to before they print their names again before giving their signature at the very bottom of the form.
